How often do you send “Thank You” cards? I have turned into an avid card sender over the last couple of years. I like the way it makes me feel. I also like to imagine how the other person feels when they get a thank you card.
Today I feel wonderful because of some cards and cookies I just sent. I made a couple of sales over the last 2 weeks. To say thank you for the orders I just sent some cards and a dozen cookies to each person I’m dealing with. I don’t know if the companies will continue to do business with me and I’m not concerned about it. What I do know is that sending the cards and cookies makes me feel great.
Last week I sent a card to the first person who gave me a shot in sales. I thanked her for hiring me and working with me over 20 years ago. I feel bad because I should have sent the card years ago but I feel great because I finally did it.
I’m making a list of people I want to send thank you cards to. In my life so far there are a lot of people who have been nice to me, helped me, taught me stuff, and done or said things I am grateful for. To all of you, I’m sorry I didn’t say “Thank You” sooner.
The sad part of this is the number of people I don’t have mailing addresses for.
If you had the opportunity who would you send a thank you card to? A teacher? A friend? A mentor? A family member? An old boss? Someone who inspires you? Someone you’ve seen do something nice for someone else? Don’t just think about it do it… it is worth it for you and them.
(Shameless business plug… I sent the cards and gifts from my computer in my home. How? The magic and beauty of Send Out Cards. My handwriting, in a card, my personal signature and a gift all from my home in about 15 minutes. Would you like to know more? Let’s talk, I can show you in about 15 minutes or don’t talk to me… go to www.sendoutcards.com/danwrites and then get in touch.)
As many of you know I’m not a big Facebook fan however this is not a rant against the impersonal connection of Facebook. It is a heartfelt “Thank You” to all the people who share inspirational, motivational, funny, deep, interesting stories, and heart warming videos, pictures and comments on Facebook. The things you share say so much about you and what has meaning to you in your life. Thank you for taking the time to share. Many times I wish I had a telephone number or mailing address so I could call you or send you a letter or card to say thank you and to just chat.
No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude. Alfred North Whitehead

Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts. David O. McKay
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us. Albert Schweitzer
