Let's Write a Story
I'm a writer. I need to write. I feel guilty when I don't write but I go weeks without writing. I think about writing but feel that my writing isn't good enough to publish or share. When I wrote articles for a monthly newsletter I got published every month and I never felt that fear. The articles were about mortgages and real estate. They got read. So why am I afraid to express my desire to write fiction? The better question is why am I afraid to write and publish?
I've been challenged by two writers I'v e never met, Jeff Goins and Joe Bunting. Jeff says "Just write. Write every day." Joe Bunting says to post an article on my blog titled "Let's Write a Story". That's why there are 2 titles to this posting. Today is August 26th. I will write a short story and post it here by September 25th, 2012. In order to meet the challenge I have to submit the story for publication to a magazine. That's scary but I'll do it. (I'll let you know how it goes.)
Joe says I should also post it on Facebook. I will.
I learned a great quote by Ray Bradbury from Joe Bunting "Write a short story every week. It's not possible to write 52 bad short stories in a row." Ray Bradbury
Ray Bradbury has been a favourite author of mine since I was a boy. He was a prolific writer.
All the best,
