I've spent some time thinking about this exercise because I didn't know how it would help.
Here are my thoughts;
- I have been hearing the story about it taking 10,000 hours to become and expert or even very good at something. Blogging every day means I'll be writing every day. It means I'll be working on my 10,000 hours of practice.
- I'll learn the discipline of making a commitment and following up on it. I'm very good at following up on work commitments, meetings, referrals etc. but I tend to let my personal commitments slide because everything else comes first.
- A very selfish reason... by posting my blog every day I'll be reaching out to people and building relationships with people, like you, who want to read my writing. Once people start reading my writing I hope they'll read the short stories I publish. As a professional writer I need an audience and I need to get published.
- Another selfish reason - when I'm done I'll have a portfolio of work that I can show to publishers, potential clients, magazines etc.
What do you think? Will you drop by every once in a while and read my blog?
