I missed one day because I fell asleep. Today I thought “Why should I write? Nobody is reading my blog anyway.” Falling asleep I can deal with. Not writing because nobody is reading my blog is quitting. Writers write and crave having their work read and acknowledged because they have to write.
A number of people I know are into physical fitness and running. They work out or run every day. They have to, if they don’t they have a bad day and feel out of sorts all day. If I don’t write every day I feel the same way. They exercise their muscles by working out and I exercise my mind by writing.
Some people work out quietly and never tell anybody about it. Others post their activities or results on Facebook or tell other people about their run or workout. Writing is meant to be shared. I’ve written quietly and never told anybody about it. My writing didn’t improve and I found excuses to skip writing.
The commitment I made to write every day and post it on my blog is the hardest writing exercise I’ve ever done. I’m enjoying it and my writing is improving. I’ve only had a few comments from the people who read my postings but the number of readers is going up.
Thank you for reading my postings. It means a lot to me.
