A week ago my wife and I ended up off the grid. We got up early in the morning. Jumped in a van that took us to the airport. Hung around the airport for a few hours until we could board the plane. The plane landed at 2:55pm local and I turned on my cellphone. Less than three seconds cost me $25.00 for data downloads. I was pretty quick to turn off my phone.
Travelling in a foreign country with vague directions and no GPS has kept things interesting. The only map we have is a tourist map. Many of the streets don't have names and others don't have signs. Driving on the left side of the road has been hard and when you add the fact that many streets don't have sidewalks and that people walk on both sides of the road can imagine the challenges. The roads are about as wide as a single lane in Ontario. The local drivers have been polite and stop to let you make the turns you need.
The hardest part of this trip has been dealing with the stress of being disconnected from the internet and my phone. We found two places where we can connect to the internet, one is The Coffee Bean and the other is the Tiki-Bar. I've been using them to stay in touch, answer email, make some sales and post on Facebook. It takes a long time to connect at the Tiki-Bar and the signal is weak but the beer is cold. The Coffee Bean is a franchise and has great coffee, the internet signal is very good.
Being digitally disconnected has given me even more determination to build my business so that I can travel more and enjoy more of life. Building a business that can run itself and in which people understand that an instant answer isn't needed is easier than people think. Yes, it takes work to get going but all good things do.
I don't know what your dream life is. I don't know what you like to do. If I could show you a way to make the money needed to live the life you want would you listen, learn and then try it?
If you could earn an extra $1000.00/month would that help?
If your monthly income became your weekly income would that get you to your dream life?
What is your dream? How will you get there?
My goal is to move to Vancouver Island and travel from there. Every week I get closer.
