I hope you had a good week and that you had good things happen.
It has been a good week for my wonderful wife and me. We are one step closer to moving to B.C. We have had to overcome some obstacles and still have some in front of us. The obstacles won't stop us.
I have never met anybody who hasn't faced some sort of obstacle in their life. Have you?
The obstacle could be family, friends, work, sports, creativity, lifestyle, money, health or any of the other obstacles that people face.
When an obstacle appears in your path you have two choices. Quit OR find a way to overcome it.
I'm pretty lucky. I have dealt with a few obstacles in my life.
My father was a mean and abusive drunk.
I come from a broken home.
We never had much money.
My mom worked full time outside the home.
I never finished high school.
I never went to college or university.
I married young and ended up divorced.
I hurt my back, had surgery and had to give up work I liked.
I have had financial problems.
I have failed in several different businesses.
I had trouble settling into a "career".
Sometimes I let one or some of these things stop me... TEMPORARILY.
I did one thing differently than many people. I believed in my dream and I didn't quit. I haven't reached my goal but I get closer every day. I am driven by a belief that I will (note - WILL not can or may).
Persistence has helped me find solutions, different paths, try different things achieve small successes and keep going.
Is there something you really want in life? Something you dream about every day? Something you are working toward but are blocked or facing obstacles? Here's a tip... take you eye off the big goal and face the obstacle, study it, test different ways to overcome it, ask for help. Read a book about other people who have overcome obstacles. Take some time and explore the obstacle from a different point of view. Study the results of the things ypu have tried. While you are working on a way around the obstacle take a break. Recharge your energy and your enthusiasm for your goal. There is an answer. The obstacle is actually just one more step down your path. It might be a big step but it really is just one more step.
"We are built to conquer environment, solve problems, achieve goals, and we find no real satisfaction or happiness in life without obstacles to conquer and goals to achieve." Maxwell Maltz
"Even if you seta long-term goal, that doesn't mean it's a straight-line journey. Often there are problems and obstacles along the way." Fred DeLuca
"I advise you to say your dream is possible and then overcome all inconveniences, ignore all hassles and take a running leap through the ring even if it is in flames." Les Brown
Thank you for stopping by and reading Friday Musings. I appreciate the time you took to read this. If you ever want to get together for a coffee let me know.
All the best,
